USC Verdugo Hills Hospital to Display Roski’s Illustrations for ‘The Crooked Man’

Gayle Garner Roski’s illustrations for  The Crooked Man, His Doctor and His Angel will be featured as part of the permanent collection of the Healing Arts Exhibits at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, Calif.

The artist created these illustrations after traveling to Guatemala with the dedicated volunteers of Operation Walk, which gives the gift of mobility to those in need of knee replacement surgeries.

The book details the story of Rogelio Estrada, known to his friends as “the crooked man” because his legs were so bowed that he could no longer work.  Roski accompanied Estrada throughout his journey, and even witnessed the life-transforming surgery performed by Dr. Lawrence Dorr and his team, which replaced both of Estrada’s knees and straightened his legs.

Dates: Permanent exhibition unveiling in January 2019
Location: USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, 812 Verdugo Blvd, Glendale, CA 91208
