Angels to be Unveiled at Grand Park

evitedesignGayle Garner Roski’s newest angel statue – one of 30 angels created in celebration of the California Community Foundation’s Centennial – will be unveiled on Saturday, November 12, at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.

Roski not only decorated the angel, but also designed the form, inspired by an icon – the timeless paper doll. This concept allowed her to use a lightweight two-dimensional material to create a three-dimensional form that would be easy to transport while providing artists with eight different planes on which to paint.

Date of Unveiling: Saturday, November  12, 2016, 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dates of Exhibition: November 12 to 19, 2016
Location: Grand Park, 200 N. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012

New angel statue designed by Gayle Roski for the California Community Foundation's angel project.

In 2002, Roski designed a new angel style for the second year of A Community of Angels Public Art Program. Roski recently designed another angel statue, this time for the California Community Foundation’s “We Are Los Angeles” Project. The new design features two intersecting cutouts of the front and profile silhouettes of an angel. She is now painting this six-foot-tall angel, one of 30 angels that will be unveiled at Grand Park on November 12.
